Ahead of the 2023 Rugby World Cup in France, Louis Vuitton has revealed it is the official supplier of the Trophy travel case for the competition. As if winning a trophy isn’t already big enough, carrying it home in a monogram bag really does the trick.
The case was revealed yesterday, November 20, during a test match between France and New Zealand at the Stade de France. The custom-made case will hold the Webb Ellis cup, and was made by experienced Louis Vuitton artisans.
Featuring the brand’s signature Louis Vuitton monogram, the exterior is covered and emblazoned with the letter “V” that symbolizes both Victory and Vuitton. The painted colors are blue, white and red in honor of those used in the tournament. On the sides, the Roman numerals XV are hand-drawn, representing the 15 players of the rugby union team. “For the first time in a trophy trunk, the case is lined in rich Louis Vuitton leather, in the same color as Pantone blue,” explains LV.
Louis Vuitton previously made commemorative cases for some of the world’s largest events. Her impressive record includes the FIFA World Cup™ and League of Legends World Championships, the NBA Finals, and the Formula One Grand Prix of Monaco, to name a few.
“This is a fantastic opportunity to bring our expertise to one of the world’s greatest sporting events, and once again to prove that Victory Travels in Louis Vuitton,” said Michael Burke, Louis Vuitton Chairman and CEO.
“This Official Travel Bag is a fine representation of Louis Vuitton’s unique expertise and craftsmanship. We are honored to host the Webb Ellis Cup from now until the end of the tournament in 2023,” said Claude Atcher, CEO of France 2023.
The 2023 Rugby World Cup will be the 10th edition in history and will take place between September 8 and October 28, 2023, and will also celebrate the 200th anniversary of the invention of rugby.
